Roger was born and raised in Lafayette, Indiana. Purdue University is located just across the Wabash River in West Lafayette and Roger is a lifelong fan of Purdue sports. He worked part-time, while attending Purdue, for Eli Lilly's Tippecanoe Laboratories and eventually retired 34 years later. His entire career was involved in analytical services and quality control with roles ranging from technical support to team leadership.
Roger moved to the Village with his wife Lyn in May 2014. Both are involved in numerous activates, with Boomers Rock being closest to their hearts. They have one son and two grandchildren living in northern Illinois.
Chris grew up in Youngstown, Ohio. Graduated from Youngstown State Univ in 1974 with a BA and moved to the Tampa Bay area. He played in a touring band for 5 years then obtained a JD degree from Stetson Univ. College of Law. Chris and Maryann married in Florida and later moved on to Las Vegas where Chris continued his 31 years as an attorney with primary practice in financial institutions.
They retired and moved to the Village in 2013 and joined Boomers Rock in 2014. Chris previously served on the Boomers Board from 2016 through 2018, 2 years as Treasurer and 1 year as President. Chris has been an employee of the Village POA since 2015, currently serving as Land Management Specialist. Chris also has played in local bands including The No Refund Band and more recently Eastbound & Down with Jackie B.
Secretary:
Marian LaVelle
Secretary.pdfMarian is originally from Indiana, but spent many years in Wisconsin where her 3 adult children (2 sons and 1 daughter) and 6 grandchildren (2 girls and 4 boys) still reside. She retired from Harbor Light Hospice after working as an office manager for 13 years.
Marian and her husband Don moved here in April of 2013. We had 5 wonderful years here before Don passed away in June of 2018. I absolutely love living here in the Village and have had a blast participating in the many Boomers Rock activities.
Kim grew up in Kansas and moved to Houston at the age of 20 and spent the next 46 years there until moving to Hot Springs Village in December 2019 with his wife Vickie. They visited the Village in 2008 and decided this is where they wanted to retire. Kim worked in several fields including the grocery industry where he started as a sacker at 16 and over the years worked his way up to store manager then buyer before moving to Compaq/HP as a buyer then finally changing to the oil industry as a purchasing manager for Emerson until he retired. He has also volunteered his to to the community as a member of the trails committee and on the ad-hoc rules committee. Kim and his wife enjoy traveling to National Parks and visiting their 5 grandkids in Wyoming.
In fall of 2022, Val and Walt Black came here on vacation to Hot Springs Village. They immediately fell in love with the rolling hills and trees compared to Georgetown, Texas that they called home for many years.
After 10 years in the Air Force as a medic and instructor, Val went to college and received her degree in Radiology, then continued studies in ultrasound. After 20 years in the field, she decided to retire from work and just have fun.
She has been the social chair at several places where they have lived to ensure that there is always fun times to be had. They enjoy the new folks you meet and the friends you make at these events.
Val and Walt live on Lake Maria and enjoy the peace and serenity. She loves golf, hiking, gardening, boating, games, painting artwork, and resin art. They have 17 grandkids and and enjoy having family and friends coming to visit.
If you are new to Boomers Rock, get involved and volunteer. It is rewarding and a great way to make new friends!

Alissa Nead
Alissa was raised in northern Arkansas but spent the last 40 years in Michigan after 6 years in southern California. She loves living in the village. Finding Boomers has enabled her to meet so many great people. She currently lives on the 5th hole of Nina and you are invited to stop in anytime. You will recognize the house...It has a U of M flag!

Debbie Schultz
Debbie grew up in NW Louisiana but moved to Austin, TX in 1993 where she met and married her husband Jim Schultz. She worked as a franchise paralegal for franchisors in Austin and Waco and continues to do this work on a contract basis. But thankfully, she is mostly retired and enjoys her time with friends and family.
Debbie and Jim moved to Hot Springs Village from Sun City, TX in 2017 to take advantage of the beautiful setting, great golf courses and lakes as well as Debbie’s favorite sport - pickleball. They joined Boomers immediately after moving here and are grateful for their Boomer’s friends and memories created over these past years.

Rita Turner
Originally from Searcy, Arkansas Rita moved to Dallas in 1954 and enjoyed her life in the Metroplex with her husband, 3 stepchildren & 4 grandchildren. She began her career with Braniff International Airlines, which started her love of travel and continues to this day. She worked many years in the corporate world but life took her to other exciting opportunities later in life as a Professional Caterer, Massage Therapist & finally, Corporate Flight Attendant, traveling all over the world.
Retirement in 2018 brought her to Hot Springs Village where she enjoys gardening, cooking, dancing, fishing, kayaking & socializing with the many friends she has made through Boomers!

Vickie Botkin
Vickie grew up in Texas and Michigan. She lived in Houston, Texas for 39 years before moving to Hot Springs Village in December 2019 with her husband, Kim. They had planned their move here since 2008 when they bought a lot in the village. She was Vice President of Accounting, HR and IT for 31 years before retiring from a Houston area staffing company. Vickie and her husband love to travel to National Parks with a goal of visiting them all. Vickie enjoys quilting, embroidery, hiking, and reading.
